A message from our Artistic Director Amy Phillips

Well, as we wrapped our Christmas comedy 'Harvey' at the end of 2019, who could have imagined what we would be facing at Christmas 2020?

Myself and the Lantern Team would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped keep us shining this year.  We are so lucky to have so many volunteers and supporters who believe in kindness, community and the power of the creative arts - not least the wonderful Deacon Dawn and the Lantern Methodist Church and the building we are lucky enough to call home.

Thank you too to Ella Elf and the Elf Initiative that the Lantern were so happy to support - delivering gifts and food to families all over Merton who have been hit financially by this terrible pandemic.

We were delighted to have been able to have produced two shows during the festive period, from the Lantern Theatre Company - The Christmas List and from Silhouette Theatre Company - The Twelve Days of Christmas.  Thank you to our brilliant performers and our Chief Technician Andrew McBride - to have the building ringing with festive cheer and be able to see lots of sparkly eyes (above a sea of masks!) was such a high for all of us here.

Finally, a special thank you to all of you who have so generously donated money to the arts centre during this incredibly challenging time.  Whether it was via tap- donate after one of the Christmas shows, by signing up to be a Lantern Angel or by giving a one-off donation, we are just so grateful.  To find out more about how you can support the LAC financially, click here:

Rest assured, as we celebrate the light of Jesus this Christmas, the light of the Lantern is still shining brightly and we will be praying for your health and happiness and a much, much better 2021- a year that we hope will see a return to the artistic sparkle, creative community and fun-filled activities that the LAC is proud to be known for...

Stay Safe & Happy Christmas!
