Girls Like That
Written by Evan Placey
Directed by Toby Ward-Smith
'When a naked photograph of teenager Scarlett is sent around school, rumours begin to grow and her reputation is quickly destroyed, threatening to shatter the fragile unity of the girls she has grown up with. Using music and dance sequences, and featuring shifts in time to explore the evolution of feminism, ‘Girls Like That ’ by Evan Placey focuses on the unity of friendship between females and its fragility in the face of societal and cultural pressures.
‘Girls Like That’ was first performed as part of The Young Rep Festival at The Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham where the play then went on to be awarded the Best Play for Young Audiences at the 2015 Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Awards. ‘Girls Like That’ is an urgent, powerful and haunting examination of how frightening the phenomena of sexting has made the teenage world.'
Please note this production contains strong language and sexual references. Recommended age 13+
