Children’s Theatre Club

We have four Children’s Theatre Clubs in total. Each group works towards a performance at the end of each term to which friends and family are invited. Occasionally all the Thursday groups work together to create a show! Our aim is to have fun, encourage creativity and put together a high quality performance and, judging by the smiles on the children’s and the audience’s faces, we succeed!

This term begins on Thursday 14th September and Wednesday 20th September. Saturday rehearsal is 4th November. Shows 24th & 25th November.

Wednesdays 4-5pm
Age 3-5:

A gentle introduction to theatre through fun, games, singing, acting and craft with an informal performance during the final session. The first half of term is a lot of creating craft, set and the script learning songs and rhymes and playing games. The second half is a bit more focussed rehearsing as we go on the actual stage to practise!

Thursdays 5-6:30pm
 Reception- Year 8:

Three shows in three age groups are created each term with lines for everyone. Using a mixture of scripts, improvisation, games, role-play, music and film, each term is a whole new experience. Occasionally the groups work together on a larger show. You can do a term then have a term off or you can do three shows a year for many years!

Thursdays 6:30-8pm

 Youth Theatre:

A high standard of theatre is expected of our teenagers and they always deliver. Previous productions include edited versions of Romeo and Juliet, A Winter’s Tale, The Importance of Being Earnest and Of Mice and Men as well as devised pieces about identity, the Passion and a pantomime.

Event: Something Like Home
When: 13 October 2017 to 14 October 2017 at 20:00
Where: Sanctuary
Friday 13th and Saturday 14th October (8pm and 3pm). "Amissa and Cassie are both new pupils; Cassie's family has moved in with Gran whose dementia is getting worse but Amissa has come on a much longer journey." Exploring the ideas of refugee and home, our Year 6-8 theatre club created an inspiring play. Now we are bringing in adults, lengthening the script and presenting it on the big stage.
