CHILDREN'S THEATRE CLUB
& YOUTH THEATRE

Come and join us in our Children's Theatre Club and Youth Theatre for anyone from 3-19 years old!

  • Gain confidence, have fun, make friends, share creative ideas, work as a team, learn about the world through a wide variety of stories -  as well as sing, dance and act of course!

  • Everyone is welcome and everyone gets a part to suit them (including parts with few or no words if preferred).

  • Every group gets the chance within the academic year to devise their own shows, with the children’s own ideas and humour included.

  • Our aim is to have fun, encourage creativity and put together a high quality performance and, judging by the smiles on the children’s and the audience’s faces, we succeed!

Timings

We have six weekly groups in our Children’s Theatre Club three each on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Each group works towards a performance at the end of term to which friends and family are invited. Occasionally groups work together to create a show!

When?

  • Our younger children meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 4:15pm-5:30pm

  • Our older children meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 5:45pm-7pm

  • Our Youth Theatre meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 7:15pm-8:30pm

  • Each group also has a Saturday rehearsal and a performance on the last Friday or Saturday of term

  • Cost: £100 (£95 for siblings) for all age groups

We know it can be hard to be sure, so bring your child along to check us out first, and pay once you know they’ve enjoyed it! Contact Susie to arrange a trial session ctc@lanternarts.org

About Us
CTC was founded in 1999 - parents are now sending their children because they loved it so much themselves when they were young!

If your child is full of ideas and bubbling over to perform, CTC gives them a focus for that energy. If your child is shy and retiring, CTC gently encourages them to step forward with confidence as part of a team and to learn skills to help them in other areas of life.

"You have done so much for his confidence and to see him up there today brought tears to our eyes."

About Susie
Our Children’s Theatre Club and Youth Theatre are run by Susie Pottinger. Susie has been a part of the Lantern Arts Centre for many years, and used to attend the forerunner of CTC herself. Susie gets to know every child and makes sure they all get their chance to shine. She is an expert at nurturing and encouraging, and developing every child’s strong points!

As well as running the Theatre Clubs, Susie writes a lot of the scripts for the children’s shows, and has directed many main house LAC shows including Bye Bye Birdie and Sleeping Beauty (which she also wrote). She can also be seen on stage at the LAC herself - most recently as Judith Bliss in Hay Fever, as well as in Treasure Island, A Bunch of Amateurs, The Crucible and The Importance of Being Earnest. Susie has also written, directed and performed many times with the Lantern Theatre Company - recent credits include Key Witness and A Christmas List.

Susie is ably assisted by a brilliant team of helpers, many of whom have been part of CTC themselves.
