First Act is designed to introduce you to the basics of stagecraft. Through games and scripted work, you will learn everything you’ll need to be a confident actor, at the same time as building life skills and experiences in a fun setting.
The group is led by professional actress Amy Phillips. Amy, who appeared in the LAC’s production of Shadowlands, has worked extensively in TV, film and theatre.
The sessions are two hours, once a week over ten weeks featuring games and ‘play’ to explore various aspects of acting and then scripted work which Amy directs. It is appropriate for all levels and anyone can come and observe a session for free at any time during a term.
The great thing about First Act is that you can do one ten week term, take a few terms off and come back again – or come every term.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Amy for many years now and know her to be an exceptional actress with a great understanding and passion for the acting craft. She is a brilliant teacher and performer: unintimidating, passionate and inspirational and all opportunities to learn with her should be seized” – Lisa Spirling – Theatre Director
FIRST ACT WILL NOT BE RUNNING IN THE SUMMER TERM 2018, BUT WILL START AGAIN IN THE AUTUMN TERM (DATES TO BE CONFIRMED)
